Phew! Halfway through Spring already…
2026 started off with weather challenges, which led to the cancellation of the ‘Collective Hues‘ closing reception. The first Heidi Gallery Artist Members exhibition was an enormous success.
Hot on the heels of ‘Collective Hues‘ was the JDAIM (Jewish Disabilities Awareness & Inclusion Month) exhibition and Variety Show. Titled ‘Fashion-ABLE‘, WAE members created fashion outfits, bags, hats, jewelry, and did a photo shoot, where they modeled, staged, photographed and edited all the resulting images. Those digital photos remain on exhibit in the JSDD main conference room for anyone who wants to come by and be inspired by some “out of the box” photo styling! We had an amazing opening with many items purchased, families and friends impressed, and members energized by the creative output.
‘Fashion-ABLE‘ culminated in the eagerly anticipated Variety Showcase, which drew an attendance of 108. There were songs, dance, music, and spoken words all relating to fashion and performed by the WAE members. Everybody had a fabulous time.
Heidi Gallery also hosted a rescheduled creative workshop, on the same day, in the WAE art studio downstairs. The building was hopping!
That brings us to our latest juried exhibition, ‘Teal Me Now‘. One of the colors of 2026, teal is often a divisive color in the creative world due to its chameleon nature; is it blue or is it green? Artists really took on the challenge, and our judges did an excellent job with their choices. There was a large crowd at the opening reception, viewing fifty-six artworks from forty artists.
On April 19, as part of the Garden State Art Weekend, Heidi Gallery hosted a West African drum and dance performance. With a backdrop of art, ‘Teal Me Now‘ in the instance, performances are always special.
‘Teal Me Now‘ closes on Sunday, May 17, 2-4pm, with artists’ insights. It is always interesting to hear about artist practices and inspirations. I hope you join us.
