I really enjoy facilitating photography to our members, they each bring their unique points of view, learning to express what they find important to them the most.

This is a photo created by Kari S. on 5-15-25. She wanted to take pictures while seated, so we collected a few items she found interesting to capture. She chose a few colorful pieces of artwork and some foil, as she observed the foil reflecting off the colorful pieces of art she became excited and captured this stunning abstract photo. Kari’s main inspiration is color, she looks for colorful things to take pictures of and enhances her coloring as she edits her images using Photoshop Express. I’ve been facilitating Kari’s photography for a few years, and I’ve learned, if it’s not colorful she is not interested!

This photo was taken by Yoav N on 2-13-25. New to photography Yoav and I discuss observing our world and choosing which thing he would like to capture and hold onto. As we went out to explore on this rainy day, Yoav carefully looking around, found the reflection of this tree in a puddle. He couldn’t believe it, he said he never would have noticed this before. While editing he looked to flip the image and decided this is how he wants this picture to be presented, calling it “Yoav’s Tree”. Yoav loves many forms of art and is eager to learn more. His dedication to learning and experimentation is inspiring, he brings a great energy of intrigue to his sessions and photos.

Finally…
For Rosh Hashanah, our photographers focused on learning still life photography.   They had a few shofars, apples, honey, a porcelain pomegranate and a few trays to work with.  Each member chose which items they wanted to use for their still life and were offered various lighting options as they captured the objects.  It was interesting to see how each photographer wanted to place their chosen objects.  They learned how the lighting changed the mood of the image and how changing the angle of the camera could change the image entirely!
