Amelia attended Arcadia University where she earned a B.A. in Psychobiology. She later received a doctorate in Physical Therapy from the same university. Her most recent areas of continuing education have included topics on core strength and stability, the lumbopelvic complex, rehabilitation strategies for spinal cord injuries, DME and home modifications, and pediatric yoga and self-regulation.
Amelia participated in pediatric pro bono work in Al Hoceima, Morocco before starting her career in Philadelphia, PA. She gained extensive experience with aging adults and medically complex patients while working in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Amelia was an Adjunct Professor in cardiopulmonary physical therapy after many years in acute care hospitals and rehabilitation centers prior to joining JSDD’s WAE center in 2019.
Amelia has a passion for nature, animals, gardening, traveling, and athletics. Amelia strives to make therapy a positive and playful experience, often drawing inspiration from her own children and past athletic career. She is passionate about promoting the joy of movement along with the health and wellness benefits of movement. She is motivated to help individuals increase their independence and confidence to participate in recreational activities.

Professional Education and Credentials
Shelby attended The University of Maryland at College Park, where she earned a B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Shelby went on to secure a master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from The College of New Jersey. Her areas of continued education have focused on American Sign Language, swallowing disorders, Apraxia, complex medical conditions, and cognitive advancements. This past year has involved extensive training for facilitating speech and language in Aquatics Therapy.
Personal Insights
Throughout her career, Shelby has demonstrated the innate ability to truly connect with families. Many of those once infants and toddlers are now teenagers and young adults. Shelby often gets text messages, holiday cards, and invitations to special events from families she has kept in touch with for over 15 years.
Shelby’s passions have always been adventure, travel, the outdoors, sports, and social connection. Her educational background paired with her athletics, allows her to participate in adaptive sports and Special Olympics. One day in the future, she dreams of working internationally and with programs that repair cleft palates in deserving countries.
Shelby has an undeniable passion for service and her career. She is thankful each day for her ability to make a difference.
