Therapy with Stephanie by Amelia

Stephanie greets me at the elevator ready for therapy each week. On the elevator ride up to the second-floor therapy wing she pleasantly, but clearly, states her objectives for the day. She, at times, will even provide the order in which she would like to accomplish her tasks! At the completion of each session, Stephanie will then go through her desired plan for the following week on the ride back down to the first floor-always engaged and thinking ahead.

Since meeting Stephanie, she has grown more confident in her ability to make decisions about her care while in physical therapy. I love that she has come to embrace the power of choice regarding her therapy goals, that will hopefully have an impact on her quality of life. I thoroughly enjoy listening to her perspective on what she finds an important focus and she openly listens to my thoughts and suggestions. I am so proud of her quiet determination and driven spirit, while also maintaining her openness to collaboration.

She is the embodiment of what makes the WAE so great!
