In the Garden
August 6, 2024
The garden at the WAE (Wellness, Arts & Enrichment) Center is both: a place of hustle and bustle and of slow growth and discovery. This summer has been particularly exciting with the addition of 500 pollinator plants that we were given by the Xerces Society.
Veggies have been harvested, rocks painted, and everyone has had individual and group experiences in this compact natural habitat. The garden provides inspiration, education, respite and connection to the natural world!

JSDD’s WAE Center – Power of Performance
The Power of Performance is a film featuring a slate of WAE Center member artists who have been developing their craft and preparing for public events. Inspirational original poetry readings, dramatic readings, singing, Tai Chih Chih, and song leading to name a few of the featured performances.
Chairs of Inclusion: A Seat at the Table for Everyone
The Chairs of Inclusion were commissioned and created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled’s WAE (Wellness, Arts, Enrichment) Center, an alternative learning center in West Orange for people with developmental disabilities.

WAE Center 10th Anniversary
We’ve had many people who have grown… People who have become independent… They’ve come to the WAE Center and through the time being with us, learnt about having a voice, and that their voice is important. They’ve learned to express themselves, ask for what they want, and go after what they want.
WAE Center Gallery
If the WAE Center were a living being, the Art Studio would be its heartbeat. The Art Studio offers opportunities for our members to explore creating fine art through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, jewelry design, and graphic and computer arts.
